Mr. Daniel P. Keller

Executive Director
American Crime Prevention Institute

Mr. Keller has been directly involved in the administration and coordination of crime prevention programs since 1971. Mr. Keller served as a featured lecturer for the National Crime Prevention Institute and has lectured at over 300 crime prevention training seminars throughout the nation.

Dan Keller served as the Director of Public Safety for the University of Louisville from 1971 to 1997. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Southern Police Institute's Administrative Officer's Course, and the National Crime Prevention Institute.

In 1998, Mr. Keller founded the American Crime Prevention Institute (ACPI). In addition to serving as the Executive Director of ACPI, he also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Aegis Security Design, an independent security consulting, engineering and design firm associated with the American Crime Prevention Institute.

   

Col. William S. Carcara, CPP (ret.)

Assistant Director
American Crime Prevention Institute

Mr. Carcara is a career law enforcement officer and is the retired Chief of Police of the 500-officer Jefferson County Police Department in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Carcara has a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the National Crime Prevention Institute. He is also a Certified Protection Professional (CPP).

As a chief of police, Mr. Carcara was responsible for numerous innovative law enforcement crime prevention initiatives. He currently serves as a featured lecturer in many ACPI crime prevention seminars as well as an author of several ACPI crime prevention publications.

   

Mr. James Elder, CPP

Senior Crime Prevention and Technical Specialist
American Crime Prevention Institute

Mr. Elder is an acknowledged national authority in the areas of physical and electronic security systems. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute's Administrative Officer's Course and the National Crime Prevention Institute. He is also a Certified Protection Professional (CPP).

Mr. Elder is a frequent crime prevention lecturer, as well as an active security consultant and engineer. He previously served as the physical and electronics security specialist for the National Crime Prevention Institute.

   

Mr. Timothy Crowe

Criminologist and CPTED Specialist

The American Crime Prevention Institute is pleased to have Timothy D. Crowe as our lead Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) instructor and trainer. Mr. Crowe is recognized as the nation's foremost authority on CPTED. He is also the author of the widely-used text Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design.

Mr. Crowe was formerly the Director of the National Crime Prevention Institute (NCPI) at the University of Louisville where he developed the CPTED training program. He has trained over 6,000 professionals in CPTED and has provided training and consulting services for several hundred law enforcement agencies and communities.
