ACPI Instructors
Mr. Daniel P. Keller
Executive Director American Crime Prevention Institute
Mr. Keller has been directly involved in the administration and coordination of crime prevention programs since 1971. Mr. Keller served as a featured lecturer for the National Crime Prevention Institute and has lectured at over 300 crime prevention training seminars throughout the nation.
Dan Keller served as the Director of Public Safety for the University of Louisville from 1971 to 1997. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Southern Police Institute's Administrative Officer's Course, and the National Crime Prevention Institute.
In 1998, Mr. Keller founded the American Crime Prevention Institute (ACPI). In addition to serving as the Executive Director of ACPI, he also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Aegis Security Design, an independent security consulting, engineering and design firm associated with the American Crime Prevention Institute.
Mr. James Elder, CPP
Senior Crime Prevention and Technical Specialist American Crime Prevention Institute
Mr. Elder is an acknowledged national authority in the areas of physical and electronic security systems. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute's Administrative Officer's Course and the National Crime Prevention Institute. He is also a Certified Protection Professional (CPP).
Mr. Elder is a frequent crime prevention lecturer, as well as an active security consultant and engineer. He previously served as the physical and electronics security specialist for the National Crime Prevention Institute.
Mr. Arthur (Art) Hushen
National CPTED Authority
The American Crime Prevention Institute is pleased to have Mr. Art Hushen as our lead Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) instructor and trainer. Mr. Hushen is widely recognized as one of the nations foremost CPTED authorities.
Art Hushen retired from the Tampa, Florida Police Department where he was instrumental in the creation of the Departments CPTED Unit and Tampas first CPTED Ordinance. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology from the University of South Florida.
Art is a Director of the United States Designing Out Crime Association, Board Member of the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners, Past Chairman of the Florida Designing Out Crime Association, Past Board Member of the International CPTED Association and Past President of the Sun Coast Crime Prevention Association.
