What is Basic Campus Crime Prevention Certification Seminar
Crime prevention, that is “the anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it,” is ideally suited to the protection needs of both colleges and universities and healthcare facilities. The primary goal of campus and healthcare protection agencies should always be the prevention of victimization and the proactive elimination of criminal opportunities before crimes can occur. Every campus and healthcare protection agency should have specially trained and certified crime prevention specialists who possess detailed knowledge of both contemporary crime prevention techniques and strategies. The tragic events at Virginia Tech University and Northern Illinois University have fostered a virtually unprecedented concern about safety and security on college campuses, as well as healthcare facilities. With increased media attention, a record number of negligent security lawsuits, and the implication of the Jeanne Cleary Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, crime prevention has taken on a dimension of importance never before experienced.
